What is Long-Term Ventilation (LTV) Program ?

Revital Rehabilitation Hospital Facility is pleased to offer a state-of-the-art ventilator care unit. It is designed to provide comprehensive care that maximizes the patient's comfort, function, and quality of life while minimizing the risk of complications associated with long-term mechanical ventilation. The program typically involves a team of healthcare professionals, who work together to provide the best possible care for the patient and support their families on how to get through these difficult health issues.

Long Term Vent - Paediatric

Revital hospital is fully equipped to look after paediatric patients with complex medical needs including children with chronic respiratory failure requiring mechanical and non-invasive ventilation. This service is led by our Paediatric, PM & R Consultants and our specialized Allied healthcare Team.

The LTV program typically includes a variety of services, such as:

Ventilator management

This involves monitoring the patient's respiratory status, adjusting ventilator settings as needed, and ensuring that the patient receives appropriate levels of oxygen.

Secretion management

Patients in an LTV program often have difficulty clearing secretions from their airways, so they may require chest physiotherapy, suctioning, or other interventions to prevent complications such as pneumonia.

Tracheostomy care

Many patients in an LTV program have a tracheostomy tube, which requires regular cleaning, changing, and monitoring for signs of infection.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation specialists work with the patient to maintain or improve their functional abilities, including mobility, strength, and endurance.

Psychological support

Patients in an LTV program may experience a range of emotions, including anxiety, depression, and isolation, so they may benefit from counseling, support groups, or other forms of psychosocial support.

Nutrition support

Patients in an LTV program may require specialized nutrition support, such as tube feeding, to ensure they receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
